005. an alchemist's anguish

As a favor for having dealt with the train hijacking, Roy introduces Ed and Al to an expert biological alchemist, Shou Tucker. However, the learning classes go terribly wrong when the brothers find out the true source of Tucker's succesful chimeras: his wife, two years ago, and now his daughter Nina and his dog. A mysterious scarred-face man appears to bring God's justice upon Tucker and his creation (that is, to kill them).

Lieutenant Colonel Hughes and Major Armstrong come to East City in order to take Tucker to Central so he's brought to justice, only to find a murder scene when they arrive. They tell Roy there's a national alchemist killer on the loose, so he ought to be careful. Roy mobilizes everyone to find the Elric brothers, who coincidentally are having a deadly encounter with this so-called "Scar" at the time. Meanwhile at Reole, another homunculus, Envy, has taken over Cornello's job by impersonating him.

Just when Edward is about to be killed off by Scar and Alphonse is unable to do anything to stop it, Roy, Hawkeye, Havoc and the rest of the backup arrive at the scene. Roy is moved out from the fight because of the rain (he can't make a spark with his gloves) and so it's Armstrong the one to face Scar. Soon after, they find out he's not only using alchemy himself, but he's also a man from Ishval, the country which was wiped out by national alchemists. In the end, Roy chooses to let him go.

Edward and Alphonse need to go back to his birth place, Resembool, in order to have themselves repaired after the battle with Scar. However, during the journey Major Armstrong (who's traveling with them) spots Dr. Marcoh, an alchemist specialised in bio-alchemy who disappeared after the Ishval War. He was able to synthesize an incomplete Philosopher's Stone, which was used in the war with deathly results. Although reluctant at first, he finally confides Ed with the location of his research papers. Unfortunately, all this has led Lust to the doctor too.
