Roy Mustang. Riza Hawkeye. I don't even know how I can start writing about what they mean to each other, or what they mean to me. For me, Roy & Hawkeye's relationship is the greatest love story in Fullmetal Alchemist (and actually, in all other mangas too). I also wholeheartedly support other couples such as Edward & Winry and Ling & Lan Fan, but they don't come even close to my heart compared to Roy and Hawkeye.

     

Their relationship is one expressed in subtleties, through the course of a million little moments, phrases and gestures. One that could be so easily overlooked, yet their feelings manage to come through all the masks they both wear. They share a bond that can't be broken by anyone or anything and which allows them to be themselves truly just in front of one another. It's a relationship chose by them, where no one is forced to stay by the other's side, yet they seek it.

It's also a balanced relationship, one in which trust and respect flows both ways. Where no matter the rank or who's supposed to be protecting whom, they'd both do anything for the other.
